Event Support Services
As a promoter of regional and amateur sports development, the Sports Commission offers consulting and support services to amateur not-for-profit sporting events taking place in the St. Louis community. A list of areas in which the Sports Commission can provide assistance appears below. Please note that because the Sports Commission is responsible for producing its own lineup of events and activities, it is limited in the amount of time and resources it can devote to outside projects. Events seeking the Commissions assistance should meet the organizations goals and objectives, which include economic benefit to the St. Louis region, national exposure, enhanced quality of life and amateur sports development.
Bid Development / Event Management
The Sports Commission can serve as a resource for organizations seeking guidance in formulating bids or managing events. The Commissions director of events can meet with event organizers to help create a bid development or event management plan. At this initial meeting, the Commission can share insight and recommendations on how to proceed in the bid process and / or produce a successful event. Follow-up meetings are dependent on staff schedules and availability.
Via the following mediums, the Sports Commission can provide promotional support in order to create awareness in the local community:
Through events such as the Womens Final Four, NCAA Wrestling Championships and the U.S. Gymnastics Championships, the Sports Commission has compiled a database of more than 1,000 experienced and enthusiastic volunteers. The Sports Commission can help event organizers recruit volunteers by sending information to the database via electronic mail or regular mail (printing & postage at the events expense.) Other volunteer resources include:
The Sports Commissions consulting and support services are offered to non-profit events at no cost; however, we encourage those who utilize these services to consider making a contribution to the Commissions affiliated St. Louis Sports Foundation/Sports for Kids program.
