NCAA DIVISION I MEN'S ICE HOCKEY TOURNAMENT TEAMS ANNOUNCED: BOSTON COLLEGE, MICHIGAN,
NEBRASKA-OMAHA AND COLORADO COLLEGE HEADED
TO ST. LOUIS FOR WEST REGIONAL

ST. LOUIS – March 20, 2011 – The wait is over. The field of 16 for the NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Tournament was announced today. Four of the teams are on their way to St. Louis for the West Regional, which begins at 4:30 p.m. Friday (March 25) at Scottrade Center. No. 2 seed Michigan faces No. 3 University of Nebraska-Omaha in the first Regional semifinal. The second game matches the No. 1 seed in the West and defending NCAA Frozen Four champion Boston College against No. 4 seed Colorado College.
Saturday’s Regional final faces off at 8 p.m. The winner advances to the NCAA Men’s Frozen Four in
St. Paul, Minn.
The programs competing in the West Regional share 15 NCAA titles. Michigan, which won the CCHA (Central Collegiate Hockey Association) regular season title, has won 9 national championships and comes into the 2011 tournament making its 21st consecutive NCAA appearance, the longest active streak. Michigan is coached by former St. Louis Blues player and coach Red Berenson.
Boston College won the Hockey East title last night and tries to become the first repeat NCAA Frozen Four champion since Denver in 2004-05. Overall, Boston College has won four championships including two of the last three.
UNO is led by second-year coach Dean Blais, who won two NCAA Frozen Four titles coaching North Dakota (1997 and 2000). UNO has already faced its first-round opponent, Michigan, twice this season. The two split the series.
Colorado College has won two NCAA Frozen Four titles. Winger Jaden Schwartz was the first-round pick of the St. Louis Blues in 2010.
The NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey West Regional is hosted by the St. Louis Sports Commission and the CCHA.
TICKET INFORMATION: All-session tickets are available online at ticketmaster.com, by phone at 800-745-3000, and in person at all Ticketmaster outlets, including the Scottrade Center box office. All-session tickets are $39 and provide admission to all three games of the Regional.
BOX OFFICE HOURS: The Scottrade Center box office, located inside the Clark Street entrance, will be open at the following times:
- Monday, March 21 through Wednesday, March 23: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Thursday, March 24: 10 a.m. to the end of the second period of the Blues game.
- Friday, March 25: 10 a.m. to the end of the second period of the second Regional semifinal game.
- Saturday, March 26: 10 a.m. to the end of the second period of the Regional final.
