LOUIS July 9, 2002 Tickets for the 2002 Missouri-Illinois football game go on sale at 10 a.m. Wednesday (July 10). Tickets will be available through Ticketmaster. Fans may purchase tickets by phone at 314-241-1888 or 618-222-2900; online at www.ticketmaster.com; or in-person at all Ticketmaster ticket outlets, including Famous Barr, Blue Note Sports Shops, select Schnucks Video Clubs, Streetside Records, and Tuckers. Tickets are $30 and $15. A limited number of $50 and $35 seats are also available. Group tickets for groups of 20 or more are available by calling 314-342-5244. This number is for group tickets only. Missouri and Illinois open the 2002 college football season Saturday, Aug. 31 at the Edward Jones Dome in downtown St. Louis. Kickoff time is 2:30 p.m. This marks the first meeting between the Tigers and Illini since 1994. The two football programs havent played in St. Louis in more than 30 years. The game also represents St. Louis first taste of Division I-A college football since hosting the Big 12 Football Championship in 1998. As part of their two-year agreement, the Tigers and Illini will also kick off the 2003 season in the Gateway City. Back to more imminent kickoffs On Wednesday, several student-athletes will be part of a "Kickoff at Kiener" fan fest and press conference hosted by the St. Louis Sports Commission and St. Louis Convention & Visitors Commission the organizers of the Missouri-Illinois football series. Fans are invited to stop by Kiener Plaza in downtown St. Louis from noon to 1 p.m. to get autographs, toss the football with players and participate in a quarterback challenge. Band members and cheerleaders from the universities will also be on hand. A press conference with players and organizers will begin at 1 p.m. Carey Davis (Hazelwood East), Christian Morton (Riverview Gardens), Matt Sinclair (SLUH), and Walter Young (Park Forest, Ill.) will represent Illinois; Zack Abron (Francis Howell), Rob Droege (Lindbergh), and Keith Wright (Sacramento, Calif.) will represent Missouri. Fans visiting the site can access ticket details, hotel specials and a schedule of activities taking place around the game that will create a bowl-like atmosphere inside the Dome and throughout downtown St. Louis.
