SPORTS FOR KIDS TO HOST FREE COACH IT RIGHT! CLINIC FOR YOUTH BASEBALL COACHES JULY 31 AT T.R. HUGHES BALLPARK

ST. LOUIS — June 30, 2004 — The St. Louis Sports Commission's Sports for Kids program is giving youth baseball coaches the opportunity to improve their coaching skills by working with some of the top coaches, trainers, and sportsmanship experts in the area at a free coaching clinic on Saturday,
July 31.

Sports for Kids has teamed up with the River City Rascals and the Taco Bell Coaches Club to host a free Coach it Right! clinic for youth baseball coaches at T.R. Hughes Ballpark in O'Fallon, Mo.

The instructional clinic takes place from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the home field of the Rascals. Participants will receive instruction on how to teach fundamentals, as well as tips on training, nutrition, sportsmanship, and proper motivation of youth athletes from the Rascals coaches and trainers.

"Sports for Kids is thrilled to work with the Rascals and Taco Bell Coaches Club to produce this clinic at such a beautiful ballpark,” said Troye Frank, the Sports Commission's director of youth programs. "Youth coaches play a major role in shaping the experiences of young athletes. By helping these participants become better coaches we can provide more positive environments for young athletes to excel on the playing field and in life."

Under the banner of Coach it Right! , Sports for Kids organizes free coaching clinics that educate, train and motivate volunteer youth coaches in various sports. The mission of Sports for Kids is to help young people from St. Louis live healthier, happier and more productive lives through sports.

This year, Sports for Kids produced a Coach it Right! track & field clinic at Normandy High School. Sports for Kids also hosted the NCAA Youth Education through Sports (YES) wrestling clinic at Savvis Center, a volleyball recruiting roundtable & sportsmanship seminar at Washington University, and a Sports Career Day for more than 200 students in the Fort Zumwalt School District in St. Charles County.
