LOUIS Oct. 25, 2005 Saint Louis University men's and women's basketball coaches Brad Soderberg and Shimmy Gray will offer area youth coaches insight into their coaching techniques and strategies at a free coaches clinic on Saturday, Nov. 5. The instructional clinic, hosted by the St. Louis Sports Commission's Sports for Kids program and the Taco Bell Coaches Club, will take place from 2 4:30 p.m. at the West Pine Gymnasium on the SLU campus. Soderberg and Gray will show coaches how to properly teach basketball fundamentals to their athletes. The clinic will emphasize sportsmanship, and coaches will receive tips on half-court and transition defense, set plays on offense, and the fast break. Prior to the clinic, participants are invited to watch the Lady Billikens scrimmage from 1 - 2 p.m. Youth coaches have a terrific opportunity to learn from two of the best collegiate coaches in the nation, said Troye Frank, the Sports Commission's director of youth programs. We're honored to have Coach Soderberg and Coach Gray lead the clinic. Their vast knowledge and wealth of experience will benefit not only the participating coaches, but many young athletes as well.
