Past Sportsmanship Initiative Events

The goal of Olympic Day is to promote the Olympic values and participation in sport across the globe regardless of age, gender or athletic ability.

In St. Louis, the St. Louis Sports Commission’s Sports Foundation / Sportsmanship Initiative partnered with the Disabled Athlete Sports Association (DASA) to host local Olympic Day activities.  Young people from DASA’s CAMP WECANDU participated in swimming and track and field drills, with the Paralympians in attendance leading the demonstrations.  CAMP WECANDU brings children of all abilities together to participate in a variety of sports.  Campers get opportunities to experience new athletic and sensory activities each day.  The organization’s efforts connect with the Olympic ideals of fair play, perseverance, respect and sportsmanship.
